• I have recently successfully installed WP 5.9.3, with TwentyTwentyTwo Theme and Polylang 3.1.4.
The site / all pages is ready, then translated into three other languages.
I did the initial setup, added languages, translated pages and everything works fine except “the language selector”, which (maybe) doesn’t work, at least I can’t find it, so I can’t activate it.

Under “appearance” it is now only available; themes, editor (beta) and customizer.

I can’t add Language Switcher to my page, I can’t find that option.
I followed the instructions from: https://polylang.pro/its-official-polylang-3-2-is-available/ but no language selector appears.
    The problem now is :
When I go to the Appearance ? : no “Menus page ” available.
How to select the ‘Language Switcher’ and add to menu button?
I don’t see the language switcher metabox, how to find out if that is disabled in the screen options ?

    My question is:
How do I make my WordPress 5.9.3 – block editor TwentyTwentyTwo (TTT) site multilingual? Is that possible with Polylang 3.1.4 ( free version )?

Or do this mean that it is not possible to use the free version of Polylang 3.1.4 with the current WP 2022 TTT theme?
Please confirm if this is correct, if I should be using another translator plugin or the Pro version Polylang?.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi mabofv,

    Did you find a solution?

I have the same problem, i have my website ready with the new Editor of WordPress and the theme Twenty twenty-Two. I have installed the plugin Polylang, I can transalte all the pages, but I can’t find the way to add the language selector in the website.

    Cheers

    Hello raquelbr,
Yes I have found that Polylang 3.2.2. free version is not compatible with Twentytwentytwo. Missing block “language switcher”
As far as I have been able to determine, Twentytwentytwo “multi langual” only works with the paid plugin Polylang Pro at the moment.
The paid version Polylang pro promises compatibility with the Full Site Editing and, language switcher added in the navigation block.

The the block based full site editor Twentytwentytwo is quite new and still under development and refinement.
I do not install a paid plugin.
I have temporarily solved the lack of the language switcher by linking the other languages in a submenu.
It’s not pretty and is actually a big minus of WP and Polylang because both promote a free download full site editing “multilingual” and it doesn’t work.
I hope and expect that a free download multilingual plugin will be available for Twentytwentytwo very soon.
By the way I also found the option ” free download Polylang Pro 3.2.2 ” NULLED”, to register on the special website and top up your points balance.
I haven’t looked into it in detail, don’t have much faith in it and expect you’ll just have to pay to get the points anyway.
Good luck finding an acceptable solution.

    Thank you.

To add an additional bug: editing the theme to add menu support (by adding add_theme_support( 'menus' ); to functions.php) means that it becomes possible to add a language switcher menus, only it doesn’t actually work. It’s just a link to #pll_switcher which doesn’t even produce an error message if you check the console.

No sign of the other ways of adding a language switcher promised in the documentation.

The plugin ‘details’ page says ‘Compatible up to: 6.0’ but that doesn’t seem to be true, if the default theme doesn’t work?

Is there a fix for this? Or a better workaround than just manually making a language switcher to choose between different front pages?

    Thanks!
