WP 6.4 update has broken Gutenberg templates

  • My site build was ok until my installation auto updated to 6.4 now the one page i have been working on assigned the front-page template always seems to show as using the generic ‘pages’ template. I thought that Front-page took precedence over index and page templates? Outside of the FSE editor when i go the the standard WP page editor the page is showing as using the Front-page template, though briefly on loading the editor it shows the pages template. This has only become apparent since the version 6.4 update of WordPress.

    If the WP upgrade has changed the way Gutenberg assigns templates then this is huge and we need some warning! if your half way through a site build.

    Additionally specific library blocks just wont show on the page front-end – Gutenberg is just not ready for production yet; its a shame but its just not there yet.
