wp-admin changes to index.php in url

  • When i go to the backend the site the wp-admin in the url is changed to index.php on all pages that include wp-admin in the url. this is making all pages in the backend appear with a 404error.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Found out it was a plugin conflict with the nextgen gallery plugin. have removed the plugin and site is functioning properly again.
