• Hi there,
    My site is https://www.willstedman.com
I tried to login to my site today using the wp-admin slug but got a 404 error back saying page not found etc…

I then tried to login via my host (godaddy) which worked but it logged me in under another user and I’m unable to log out of that and still unable to get to the wp-admin page also tried the /wp-login.php. and that didn’t work either.

Can someone help me get to the bottom of this as I’m now very confused! I haven’t done anything recently that would of changed it and its just today I’m getting this 404 error!

    Thanks in advance
    Will

  • Hi Stederz,

Did you change anything in the core of WordPress? When accessing the wp-login.php file I receive an error saying causes too many redirects.

I don’t think so, i truth be told i haven’t done anything to the site in the past few weeks! Its all been fine up until today!

Do you think turning off plugins and testing it may reveal the problem or is this type of problem lie deeper than plugins?

    Hi Stederz,

You can always try deactivating plugins, if this doesn’t work you can always reupload the WordPress core. You only need to reupload the following folders in you FTP root.

    1) wp-admin
    2) wp-includes

If you think you have been hacked in anyway make shure someone checks your FTP root for any weird file names. Also delete the wp-admin & wp-includes before uploading the new one, make shure it’s clean.

Okay thanks ill give that a check over!
