    Hi,

I just started with making a website, though have used the WordPress platform to run blogs before.

When I installed WordPress onto my new bluehost site, it said everything was good. But, when I tried to go to the danweaver.ca/wp-admin page to login and get things started, it didn’t exist. It simply directed me to the old temp page that was put up when I registered the domain.

I know this is likely a basic question, but I did look around here and the internet and didn’t find the answer. I’d be grateful for advice!

    Cheers,

    – Dan

  • There may be a place holder file that your host installs when you open account you need delete or rename the file may me something like index.html

Thanks for your quick reply! It sounds accurate. When I installed initially, it asked if I wanted to install over an existing file, and I am certain I said yes. Do you/anyone know how I would delete this existing page manually now?

The file should be in your public_html folder Looks like your site is working now

    Hi,

I’m having a similar problem, and I am VERY new to all of this. I just got an account on hostgator, and I am attempting to move the content of my blogger page over there (without losing statistics, permalinks, tags etc) .

I read instructions that indicated that once I did the quickinstall, I could go to the wp-admin page and login and press “import” from blogger, or something along those lines. I used /blog when I did this install, b/c just in case something goes wrong, I don’t want my whole page to get messed up.

The domain I’m using for this purpose is kkthanks.com/blog/wp-admin. When I went there to go log in and do the import process, I got taken to a page that has my blogger design but an error message that the content does not exist, and there’s no option for me to login to wordpress and do the import process.

    Suggestions?

I was impatient. Sorry. After a couple days, it appeared. This probably occurred because it takes time for the hosting account to take over from the previous (sortof) hosting of my domain company.
