• So I use Bluehost and recently added a new domain to my hosting plan. This domain is an addon of my primary domain but is treated as an entirely separate website.

In File Manager (cPanel)>public_html I see my addon domain and within it the WP installation. However, when I am in the WP Admin Dashboard most of my icons and images are broken (i.e. plugin icons, thumbnails, etc.). The website has not been constructed yet and has no content or images. I met these issues right after the initial installation.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. I’ve logged into Admin via IE and Chrome with the same issues as well.

What do I need to do in order to fix this?

  • I would check first to be sure the /wp-admin/images folder was correctly installed -that’s the folder that holds those images, they are a ‘sprite’ meaning that one image holds all the normal-state icons and one image holds all the hover-state icons, and there are a few for the various color themes you can choose in your user profile. The admin CSS moves the sprite around based on the menu item and normal/hover state.

If that folder is there and looks intact (when you view the folder contents you see those icon images) then please explain the process you went through to install – was it the BlueHost “one click install” or did you upload via FTP all of the WP files?

If that folder isn’t there or is missing the images, try uploading the folder or images via FTP from an unzipped copy of the WP version you’re installing.
