• I have been asked to look at a site for someone which is running WP but I think the previous developer has enabled a plugin to prevent a wp-admin login – is this possible? I can get to the site via FTP but trying delada.net then /wp-admin doesn’t resolve. I’ve built quite a few sites and this is the first time I’ve come across this issue.

    Thanks for any insight.

  • Have you tried renaming the plugin folder? After that try loging in again and see if it works. If it does work then it is a plugin that is effecting the Wp-Admin.

so it’s ok to rename ‘plugins’ to something else via ftp and try the /wp-admin? If there are active plugins via the dashboard won’t this cause an issue with the site loading?

It will stop any plugins you are using but will disable them all to see if it is a plugin issue. The other option is to do them one at a time and test or search each plugin you are using and see what they do.

Also check and make sure the wp-admin php is still in the FTP or that is was not renamed.

Thanks very much I located this: HC Custom WP-Admin URL which was set to use a different login URL.
