• I’ve downloaded 3.4.2 from my webhost, but whenever I try to login (https://www.bluegamut.com/WP/wp-admin/), it takes me to a page saying, Directory has no index file. Then it tells me to include an index.html, home.html, etc. But if I do that, it just pulls up the new index.html, rather than giving me access to my my dashboard.

    What is going on here?

Same thing happens, just goes to my index.shtml. If I remove that, just gives me the same “Directory has no index file” error message.

I’m a web developer new to WP and I don’t understand the WP directory structure. Is the content supposed to be under the main WP directory, or under wp-content, or ???

    Thanks for your help.

I think your host does not support php. You can use html files only.

I’ve tried php, html, and shtml files (with adjusted .htaccess to tell it the home page). If I have any of those files, wp-admin login goes to it; if I don’t, it gives me the “Directory has no index” message.

I’m simply trying to log into my dashboard, not trying to get my home page to appear. Why is this so difficult?
