    Hello,

    Something has gone terribly awry. My client alerted me that he couldn’t log in to the site. It was giving him a “ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again.” I then encountered the same. Tried to log in to WP Admin from the hosting server and finally got a Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method WPSEO_HelpScout

    Saw another comment on this and Yoast replied something about News. This site does not and never has used News. It does use the Yoast SEO for WooCommerce though.

    I’m going to move the plugin out of the Plugins folder so that we can resume functionality, but please figure out what went wrong here.

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method WPSEO_HelpScout::is_beacon_page() in /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/class-helpscout.php:45 Stack trace: #0 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpseo-woocommerce/classes/woocommerce-seo.php(854): WPSEO_HelpScout->register_hooks() #1 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(308): Yoast_WooCommerce_SEO->init_beacon('') #2 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(332): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #3 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(517): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #4 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php(175): do_action('admin_init') #5 /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-admin/index.php(10): require_once('/home/customer/...') #6 {main} thrown in /home/customer/www/website.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/class-helpscout.php on line 45

  • Hey @abuzon,

    This error occurs when you run (very) old versions of any of our add-ons, where in that version they call a method no longer present in Yoast SEO 20.3. Please check if you have an active subscription for the addon you are using and update it to its latest version. If you need any support on this, please know that commercial support for our add-ons is through us directly and is not allowed on the forums. If you need any, please reach out to us directly.

    Hi Jeroen,

    How would I even know? I never saw any warnings about WooCommerce SEO being out of date or about the license being expired. Licenses were all purchased by the client, so I have no idea what they have/haven’t renewed unless the site tells me. I certainly wouldn’t have expected a reputable SEO plugin’s addon to break a 2-year old site…

    What is the current version, or how would I even find that?

    All I can find is “However, we want to assure you that all features and functionality of the plugin will work regardless of the subscription status with the exception of the?morphology functionality?(word forms).?” Which is most certainly, obviously, not true.

    @abuzon

    You can find the changelog for all Yoast plugins here (tells you current and past versions and release dates – I found one 2 years out of date due to lack of notice it was updated by Yoast)
