    Hi.
I helped a friend by moving his website from his old host to BlueHost.
Everything went fine with the move and I’ve managed to get him up and running on the new host account.
Today, I wanted to upgrade it to 4.3.1 and when I clicked the link for automatic upgrade within the admin panel, I got to a blank page. Soon I discovered that the entire admin (everything under /wp-admin) is gone!
Well, not really gone, because I still see the files in FTP, but the admin panel itself is simply not working. I’ve tried to re-copy the old files over the sp-admin folder and plugins folder under wp-content and the situation stays the same.
What have I done wrong and how can I restore the old files??
I have a hard backup of the site’s files and DB.

    – try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.

I’ve downloaded WP 4.3.1 and copied all the files from the zip file onto the FTP account of the site, overwriting everything in it (excluding the /wp-content folder). Btw, the config file is originally called wp-config-sample.php, so it didn’t overwrite anything.
    Still nothing under wp-admin!…

    – Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

Actually, I’ve managed to get it back to work by restoring the site’s files with the Backup & Restore feature of the hosting account at BlueHost.
Now I’m having a problem connecting to the MySQL database of the website…

    Found it!
I forgot that I’ve changed my IP address a few days ago, so I had to whitelist also the new IP.
    Now everything is working fine!
    Thanks!!
