WP version? Did you run install.php ?

    Thread Starter jasonstone

    (@jasonstone)

    yep did install.php
    used admin login
    nothing
and yes cleared cookies and cache
    tried both safari and IE
    no go

Of course I’m wasting my time wondering if you have searched the forums for this, right? I’ve seen this often and it shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

Also, your topic title tells nothing about what problem you are having. An extra 30 seconds of effort and you would have had a more meaningful title which ultimately helps everyone on the forum.
All caps aren’t really necessary, either.

    1. Make sure you’ve uploaded the files to the correct directory.
    2. Make sure they all have the correct permission number (666 is good, 755 is better).
    3. Search these forums for similar problems and find similar solutions.

The thread title looked pretty descriptive to me, but for future reference what bit did you not understand?

macmanx – uploaded to correct directory
    what is the correct directory
i created a “diary” directory from the root and then uploaded the whole wordpress folder contents including all subdirectories to the “diary” directory
the third step identified the wordpress installation as being in https://www.garionstone.com/diary
so that i assume should have worked
and i’ve look through the forums for over an hour now (more like 2hrs) and can’t find anyone else iwth the same problem :((((((
thanks for all help – i just don’t get this one – makes no sense

Please don’t tell me you called the file wp_config.css …it’s supposed to be wp_congif.php .

Jason – can you post your OS and full browser details ?
That way, a fellow mac user may be able to help.

    Thread Starter jasonstone

    (@jasonstone)

if i did i’ll shoot myself
    but i didn’t ??
    it’s wp-config.php
    sorry for above typo ??

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Yeah, OS and browser details would be great.

    (@macmanx)

Jason, I have to get to work, but please make sure that you have:
    a. OS X 10.3.6 or 10.2.8
    b. all security updates
    c. and please try FireFox to see if that’s any different ( https://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ ). Or, if you are using FireFox, please try Safari.

    Thread Starter jasonstone

    (@jasonstone)

    podz – ok no worries
    mac OS X 10.3.6
    Safari 1.2.4
    IE mac 5.2
i got wordpress uploaded to my webserver (from fatcow.com)
here’s a link to the phpinfo
    https://www.garionstone.com/phpinfo.php
here’s a link to the bog standard wordpress install
    https://www.garionstone.com/diary/index.php
    i’ve changed nothing about it
could it really be that both the browsers are incompatible??? I don’t believe that…
but i’ll download netscape 7.2 and try that too
(but i think something in the php code is working right – but where and why – no idea)
    cheers

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

    No! No Netscape. …FireFox https://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
P.S. Now that I know who you are, one topic is enough for you, please keep it that way. This topic was fine: https://www.ads-software.com/support/3/17118 Why on earth did you switch?

    Thread Starter jasonstone

    (@jasonstone)

OK just tried out netscape v7.2 and that didn’t work either
so i’m 99.9% convinced now that it’s something to do with the server side
can anyone who knows what they’re looking for see if my php config is ok please?
    https://www.garionstone.com/phpinfo.php
    thanks a heap
    cheers

macmanx – i don’t know – wasn’t sure if the other topic was exactly getting my exact problem across.
trying firefox now – bwwwahhh hahh ahhhh
    nope didn’t work
so now we can surely rule out a mac os x browser problem – it must be the server config
ok where do i start looking then??? can anyone give me some pointers please
    thanks again
    cheers
    Jase
