• Hello,
I have been struggling to get my site up and running. I purchased my domain name from wordpress and hosting from godaddy. I installed the wordpress app in my godaddy cpanel and uploaded the free www.ads-software.com “customizr” theme (extracted) in my file manager. I also changed my wordpress DNS to godaddy’s custom nameservers which they emailed to me.
My site is https://www.eatthegood.com. When I go there, all I see is a page with ads that says “this page is parked free, courtesy of wordpress.”
When I try to login to my wordpress admin panel, https://www.eatthegood.com/wp-admin/, it struggles to load and then says “this webpage is not available.” can’t access anything.
I checked my whois and the name servers are correct.
I changed it almost 2 hours ago. I have been trying to figure this out for a few months already. Always the same thing. I have played around with the nameservers since December. Can’t figure it out. What have I done wrong? Should I transfer my wordpress domain to godaddy?
I have seen other posts say to wait 2-48 hours, other say it should happen immediately. Which is correct?
    Thank you in advance.

no i did not cancel anything at wordpress.com. only in my godaddy dns.
didnt you say for others not to interrupt a thread? :/ i am still trying to get this resolved. not to be rude or anything.

@randiesollitto: All of my comments have been in reply to the original poster (eatthegood). It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread unless you are posting a solution or suggestion. It also causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers like myself. Please post your own topic.

@eatthegood; You need to get back in touch with the folks over at wordpress.com to ensure that your original domain name re-direction has been stopped.

i just did that on wordpress.com. i have contacted here, there, and godaddy already…. in your opinion, would it be less of a hassle to just transfer the domain to godaddy so everything is all in one place?

In my personal opinion, yes. It’s far better to have your hosting and domain name all with the one company. Less chance of you being passed back & forth between 2 companies when there’s a problem. That said, some people like to keep hosting & domain name separate on the grounds that all your eggs shouldn’t be in the one basket.

So it’s really down to personal preference. What is essential though is that you have a very clear understanding of who is handling your domain name, who is hosting the site and what (if any) processes have to be in place to ensure that the site and domain name play happily together.
