    So I’ve been running this plug-in for a while and have been noticing a growing number of entries in my custom field combobox (from its use, number 47, 48, 49, 50, etc). I assume this is part of normal operation — but does it have to be? I use the custom field often, and now I’ve got to retype the key every time because the entry is replaced with a sea of numbers.

  • travelvice,

    The short answer is yes, it’s an alternative to adding another column to the comments table or adding another table to the WP database. You can clear these keys out at any time in the Options panel.

    If you have an alternate method to store temporary security keys, please let me know.

    What about nonces?

    @miral,

    The plugin uses a combination of nonces and security keys. The nonces are actually hashed and then stored. I was going to write a script that periodically deleted the keys every few days, but I didn’t want to risk the potential damage of deleting keys.

    When I get around to making a major upgrade for this plugin, I’ll provide my own database table for this functionality since custom fields are really not where this plugin should be storing data. Custom fields, in this case, were an easy short-term fix, but not a viable long-term solution.
