“WP Already Installed” ?

  • hi there
    somebody ever get this message during installation of WP ?

    “You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

    i never had WP installed before. all the tables in my database where created by WP during installation process.

    i’m using phpAdmin 2.10.3 / mySQL 5.0.45

    in the meantime i tried everything but didn’t get through.

    any suggestions ?

  • I’m going to assume you somehow clicked to install twice or your server burped. It’s no big deal as your blog did install. Just delete or rename the install.php. This error is given when people leave it and someone tries to access it – maliciously or not.

    yes, the blog is online. but i never get the logins from WP during installation. after step 1 i straight get the message that WP is already installed. thats why i can’t login so far…

    Then some one else already set it up so you probably be best to just drop the tables from your database and start the install process over to enter the correct info.

    thats what i did already several times but with no success.
    i enterd my blogtitle and e-mail address and click on the “install now” button. then i get a blank screen. when i refresh the site i get the info that WP is already installed…

    Then the admin password should have been mailed to you if your host hasn’t disable php mail function.

    yes i expected to get a mail but i never received anything.
    i wrote now to my hosting provider if there are any restrictions regarding WP or blogs in general. as i pay a lot for my hosting i don’t think that there are disabled mail funtions.

    Then reset your password

    and then change it again to be sure once you log in

    i can’t reset my password as i never create a administrator. there is no entry in my wp_user table. damn, this is a hard nut to crack…

    I’m having the same exact issue! I’ve been trying for the past couple hours to get my blog up and running but I can’t figure it out. Glad to know I’m not alone, but I wish I knew what the solution was.

    thanks for this link but i don’t have a problem to install wordpress.
    my problem is that wp don’t apply a admin-user as wp think that it is already installed.
    did you get the same message ?

    yep; I was receiving the same message as you. in my case, the problem was that I was not installing it correctly. ?? Watching that video (although old), and following along with the steps helped me to install correctly and thus eliminating the “WP already installed” error message. Are you SURE you have been installing it correctly? it could be something small that was messing it up.
