WP and email on different domains?

    Or to put the question another way… the email for our primary domain is hosted on google. Can WPMG utilize a pop/imap mailbox that resides on google, or does the mailbox have to be on the same server as WP?

    I’m having trouble getting the settings right.

    Hi there,

    The mailbox does NOT have to be on the same server as WP.

    We have successfully tested WPMG with a Google mailbox before, so it does work. It may be a question of getting the Incoming / Outgoing mail server settings right, both in terms of the SSL and Port numbers. You may also need to enable POP / IMAP for your Gmail account. See here:
