WP and google

If the pages are linked to from somewhere on your blog or on the web or if you submit a sitemap to google.

OK…I don’t have a blog (no posts on this site) yet, and I doubt anyone is linking to my Pages (I’m sure they’re not getting all of them.)

Well, that was a lot easier than I thought it might be — I used this plugin:

That is a truly golden piece of work…I was done before I thought I was getting started.

Hmm…well, I’m not sure whether there’s a problem here or not, but…I’ve done a few google searches (hoping it would hit my site), and the only thing that gets returned is this:

The problem is, I don’t have a page 25, and I don’t think (but I’m not at all sure) that I ever did. According to the XML Sitemap page in my dashboard, google was notified about my changes about 5 hours ago. How much time should I allow to elapse before I assume that there’s a problem here? Thanks.

Well first of all, Google isn’t guaranteed to index your site. Using the Google site map generator plug-in only notifies Google of your site. It’s up to Google if they even want to include your site into the index at all.

My suggestion, don’t worry about it for now. Keep writing content and try to get related website to link back to you. Also having a general idea how Google works is always a good idea. Try reading some articles on SEO.

Well, I’ve given it several days…haven’t seen much to encourage me that google’s picking any of my stuff up. Is there a definitive way to know whether google has “found” me, or do I just do searches and look through the results?
