• I understand that 3.0 is going to integrate WordPress MU with regular WordPress making it even easier to use Buddy Press. Is this true? I haven’t been involved in any of the beta testing – I’m not that advanced! – but I thought I’d ask.

Also, any idea when 3.0 might come out? I’m working on moving my Ning networks over to WordPress so wondering if it’s worth it to do it now (using WPMU) or if I can just use the regular WP 2.9.2 and upgrade when 3.0 comes out.

Any insights you have will be greatly appreciated!

  • The ETA on the stable 3.0 is listed as being June 2010 (it was May, so who knows if that will be pushed back further?)

I’m currently using WP 3.0 RC1 + BP 1.2.4 with no real out-of-the-box issues. I think most of my problems have come from using about 30 different plugins and doing customizations that you don’t sound like you’d want to do anyway. It’s actually amazing how well it’s all working together!

RC 1 is out and stable enough that I feel comfortable telling you ‘Go ahead and start anyway.’ By the time your done and off ning, 3.0 live will be out and you’ll have a head start!
