WP Archives Open to Homepage Only

I don’t know when the problem started because I don’t check the links in the WP archive widget often. But, I have several sites and all but one of them has archives with valid links but no matter which date/ month I click I end up on the site homepage. I think my archives were disabled by a plugin. Possibly it was the WP SEO as I did remove that awhile ago. I also changed my permalinks from .com/date/title to .com/title. But, I ran a seek and replace to fix links and things have been smooth for months since then.

I have tried deactivating all plugins but the problem is still there. I tried changing to a default theme…did not work. I tried clearing browser cache. I have tried looking at the code to see if I can find the archive problem. But, my code from the Editor is the same as the code from a fresh download of WP. I checked with an online comparison tool rather than relying on myself catching something small.

I do not know what else to do at this point. I’m not sure if this is missing code, code I could fix by adding something back in, or whatever else. I posted to Yoast on Twitter, thinking he would know how to fix this as he offers to disable archives with the WP SEO plugin features. No reply back so far.

I don’t think this is a bug. I have seen a few others post the same problem over the years in the forum. Most of them seem to give up or find some fix. The fixes I have found and tried have not worked for me. I am reluctant to reinstall the SEO plugin as I want to keep my plugin count down and avoid conflicts.
