• Hi guys,

this is a new one for me: I recieved database and WP files of an existing website (4.9.2, theme:twentyten). I installed WP, copied plugins and themes directories from old page to new installation and imported the old database. I copied the existing user (no credentials were available), set a new passport through the pw forgotten function and used the new user/pw combination to log in…

Went smoothly BUT: I see the home page and the wp bar. I can click on my username but nothing changes…I checked several files for redirect commands but couldn’t find anything. I also changed the user to admin, didn’t change a thing. Any ideas???

Your inspirational thoughts are highly appreciated ??
    Thanks
    Ariane

Edit: Sorry: I wanted to change to “non-support” but I don’t know how. It’s a regular question for help, not a support question…

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
