I have requested from the plugins team that this plugin be removed from the repository, with no response. The initial request was almost two months ago now and I have received no feedback. I will be immediately disabling a critical piece of the authentication process that I have been hosting at my own cost for the past year.

Anyone currently using the plugin shouldn’t see any change. Any new installs of the plugin will fail to authorize.

If anyone would like to take over development of this plugin please feel free to contact me.

  • We’re using the plugin on a few sites we’ve developed and maintain. I’ll need to find a new solution for these sites, so happy to maintain the plugin moving forward. I’ve sent you an email about this.

The deadline to migrate to V4 has been extended to March 31. Is anyone able to save this plugin before then?

We would be interested if someone picks this up or if there is another URL shortener that integrates with WP.

I don’t think anyone is going to pick this up else it would have happened by now. Most likely the orig author isn’t responding to hand it off.

The deadline to migrate to V4 has been extended. Hopefully this delay will allow us to find someone to take this over or perhaps build a new plugin:

    “ Dear Bitly Customer,

With the coronavirus (COVID-19) impacting communities, families, people and businesses around the world, Bitly has decided to postpone shutdown activities for Bitly API V2/V3 users. We are reaching out because our records show your organization may still be actively generating Bitly links using a previous version of the Bitly API.

While you can continue your switch to the latest API, the March 31 migration deadline to move from API V2 or V3 to API V4 will be extended with specific timing to be determined. We will follow up with updates as we determine new dates and timing for finalizing the transition to API V4.
In the meantime, know that Bitly will continue its long-standing commitment to providing you with the reliability and performance you’ve come to depend on.”

I’ve built a much simpler plugin.

I will submit it by late next week for review.

@masterytv You can use JetPack shortening option.

I’ve been following this thread to see if anyone picks this up. Fairly important plugin for me. Particularly Bitly itself, since I can use my custom short domain. Mostly just chiming in to show interest as a user of the plugin.
