WP CLI Cleanup problem with 20.5

    Since installing Yoast 20.5 we see a repeatable problem when using:

    wp yoast cleanup

    It seems to stall on “update_indexables_author_to_reassigned”.

    This is repeatable on different sites on different servers.

    I’m sorry about your experience with v20.5; you shouldn’t experience issues since that version includes a bug fix to clean up indexables that got orphaned because posts/terms/users got deleted while Yoast SEO was deactivated. Please try the following:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

    Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

    OK thanks. I can confirm the following:

    • I installed Yoast Test Helper and clicked “Reset Indexables tables & migrations”
    • I went into Yoast > Tools and clicked “Start SEO data optimisation”
    • Running “wp yoast cleanup” works again (i.e. it doesn’t stall/block any more).
