wp-config.php – what should i do to increase protection?

    I have found out that wp-config.php contains important information of my wordpress database. I tried using Internet Download Manager (IDM) and to my surprise i was able to download that exact php file with all the info.

    What are the ways that i should do to protect it from ‘unscrupolous’ (sorry for the spelling) users?
