WP-ContactForm and SMTP Mail

Is there a workaround to use the WP-ContactForm plugin with a Web host that requires SMTP mail on the host server. wpPHPMailer has worked well with the default WordPress e-mail functions, but I have never been able to get the WP-ContactForm to function. Always get the following error: “Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at “localhost” port 25, verify your “SMTP” and “smtp_port” setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in D:\inetpub\realestatemedianuke\wp-content\plugins\wp-contactform.php on line 156″
