    Hey team!

My dev is creating some cron jobs and he is getting a 503 error, specifically this:

There was a problem spawning a call to the WP-Cron system on your site. This means WP-Cron events on your site may not work. The problem was:

    Unexpected HTTP response code: 503

My dev cant get this running but if he deactivates wordfence, it starts working without issue so any help would be massively appreciated how to fix.

    thanks in advance

Hi @crewcabins, thanks for your question.

Wordfence could be seeing the request being made as a false-positive and therefore causing the 503 as it makes a block.

You can identify the reason by looking at the records that match the timestamp(s) when these blocks occurred in your Live Traffic page. It may be necessary to make a new request that returns a 503 if it’s easier to identify. When clicking any block line (or “eye” icon) to expand it, it will state the reason in red text. Sometimes you’ll see an “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button here which you can click to allow these types of request in future.

Let me know if the above doesn’t work or the cause doesn’t seem linked to a setting such as Brute Force or Rate Limiting. Pasting the red text from Live Traffic should help us identify whether any firewall rules need to be disabled or there’s other action you can take.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
