WP-Cron Future Pings – Does it work or not?

I just downloaded wp-cron-1.4 and upon reading the ReadMe file I noticed that it says this: * WP-Cron Future Pings…. May not yet be fully functional. Okay, so does it work or not? Are there any of the previous versons of wp-cron in which Future Posts does work?
