I’m using the latest version of WP.

When I go to the dashboard something weird happens. The links (Posts, Media etc) overlap each other. This is what I see.

And when I hover my mouse over it, they change it to the right ones.

I use just one theme and 1 plugin, which I tried to turn them off but the problem persists even when the theme is deleted and the plugins are deactivated.
I also deleted all the browser cache. It doesn’t help.

This is happening when I try to use the dashboard on Google Chrome. Surprisingly, Internet Explorer are happy with it.

Does anyone else had this problem with this browser? Do you know the probable cause?

Have you tried visiting the Dashboard with Incognito to see if a Chrome extension is a culprit as well?

We are still on 44.0.2403.157 m (64-bit) on Windows 8.1 and do not see a problem. However, there is a ‘Orange’ indicator that is telling us there is an update. If the update is going to break the Dashboard, then we are going to disable the update using services.msc.

Chrome 45 has a rendering bug. There is a ticket open on Chrome’s bug tracker about this issue, hopefully they will fix it soon.

In the meantime, here is a workaround to eliminate the issue in Chrome.

– Go to chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint
– Enable the “Disable slimming paint” option.
– Ensure that the “Enable slimming paint” option below it is not turned on.
– Relaunch Chrome.

When you’re done, the final result should look like this:

This will disable the problem code in Chrome and allow the menus to render normally.

Thank you to everyone, you provided great help!

@sipylus, LCC: It happens in incognito mode also, but not in other browsers. As stated above, I found that this is a known issue and Chrome is working on it. So we just have to wait ??

I’m not sure the version of Google Chrome I was using (I have access to the dashboard on my work PC, not right now)

Normally a bug like this would have popped up in the ‘Stories to Read’ of our Google Now stream but it didn’t for some reason so it unknown until we saw the older posts in the forum. We always have one Chrome tab open so we were able to disable Chrome’s auto update (gupdate) feature and stay at 44.0.2403.157 m (64-bit) in case other bugs.

Heading off now to see if any old themes with similar navigation needs tweaking.
