WP database in a different server?

  • I’m trying to install WP for this site, but I have the WP database set up on a different site. The owner of the domain the site is hosted on has limited resources so I’m using someone else’s domain.
    The thing is, I don’t know how to direct the files to the database. I uploaded the WP files on the other domain, but when I link the wp-blog-header.php to it, I get an error. The site shows up, except the WP part.
    Is there some way to do this? I really don’t know how to do absolute paths in php. Is it even possible to do this?

    I tried uploading the WP files on my server, but of course, the database isn’t in the same server. Mehhhh.
    Help?

    there is a setting in config where we place localhost. i think it has something to do with that. now how do we know the sql server address?
