• Hi Guys!

I’m currently using WordPress 2.3 and I’m having a weird problem with a plugin called “WP-DBManager” version 2.20.

Well I setup the automatic backup option on this plugin so it can send me the backup file every week to my e-mail address, it was working fine for the last 8 weeks but now it doesn’t seems to be working.

I was suppose to have a backup send to my e-mail on October 14 but seem I didn’t receive anything I went to my blog (October 16) and made a backup manually but now when I go to:

WordPress CP => Data base => DB Options I see this:

    Next backup date: October 16, 2007 @ 3:37 pm

This is weird because my next backup is suppose to be on October 22 and not today (this is how it was working before). I tried deactivating the plugin and uninstalling it too but nothing works…

I don’t know what else can I do any ideas?

  • clean install as in your download from WP.org of you use 3rd party installer to install it?

    No, I actually installed manually…

This is what my host told me when I send them an email regarding this problem:

    Hello,

MySQL 5 requires more explicit adherence to syntax. A majority of the problems which arose from upgrading to MySQL 5 were directly related to the compatibility of the applications and the way in which they were programmed.
As we do not technically support 3rd party applications, you will have to refer to the developer and ensure that it is compatible with the new version.

    GamerZ:

I tried to uninstall this plugin and installing it again but nothing works.

My localhost is on MYSQL 5.0, my live server is also on MYSQL 5.0, both works without any problem.

As you said earlier on, you can backup manually without any problem and the “cron” backup is identical to the manual one.

I belive this has to do with my Host MYSQL configuration and not with your script, I test your script in another hosting right now and it works.

Can you please tell me what are the requirements for your script or plugin? I mean is there any especial that need to be enable or disable in PHP or MYSQL configuration?

My hosting want to charge me 80 dollars an hour just to take a look into the code and “fix” the problem.

I believe this issue is because a configuration in the MYSQL or PHP, I don’t know what else could be…

    Hmm,

To be honest I have no idea what the problem is because since you are able to backup using the manual method, I see no reason why you can’t backup using the cron method. The cron method just call the backup function after every period defined by you. Unless, for some reason your host deny the IP to connect to itself (it sound weird) but that is what happen to me on DreamHost, they denied some IP in my .htaccess and then my cron backup failed to work, but the manual backup works fine. The moment I removed this denied IP from my .htaccess, everything works fine.
