• WordPress keeps deleting or removing the little html codes I add into a page, like
or <p></p> which I’m using to control layout. I’ll save a draft and preview and it looks fine, then next time it disappears…

    How can I prevent this?

I’m trying to adapt a simple full width page to accommodate some basic page layout issues. E.g. I put a standard 98% width 3-column table up top on the page, so I can space out a picture in the left column, a menu of text links in the middle column and 3 action buttons on the right column, before I continue on the page with the full width text.

I first tried this with WP tables reloaded, but had many problems. Then did the table in Dreamweaver (which worked perfectly) then brought it over to the WordPress HTML on the page (and adapted the custom.css to allow it). Table looks/works great, but every time I try and use
or <p> or   or any of the HTML options I’m used to (for spacing) WordPress seems to disallow it after 1-2 saves.

    Anyone know a work-around?

  • When I clicked on your link above, I got redirected to your new version.

Further explanation of what I said above:

When you say you deleted it, did you simply just trash it, or have you deleted it from the trash?

wow, thanks Harry. Yeah, it should be still in the trash. Thats what I’ll go look for now, I guess. Thank you SO much for your help! If I find it, would you recommend just cut-and-pasting the new code into the old file (restored fr the trash) ?

No, delete the old one, just copy and paste the html just in case. That’s what I’d do anyways. If everything with the link renaming goes smoothly, then feel free to delete your local back up.

There is nothing wrong with the new post, so no need to restore the old one and edit it.

Good luck. No worries, happy to lend a hand.

are you just a WP good samaritan helping out the masses, or do you do custom coding? After I make my wishlist of upgrades I need to my premium theme WP blog, should I send it to you for a bid?

I’m a web developer and have been primarily using WP for the last few years, and any time I have an issue I come here and scour the forums for answers. So it’s nice to give back, as there are many helpful people on here who’ve assisted me, maybe not directly, but through the answers they’ve provided to others. So we all benefit as a whole. I read your post, and thought I could assist.

Likewise, your query could yet help someone in the future with a similar problem.

I’m actually at work atm, I do freelance jobs, but if I take on another job my girlfriend WILL kill me, so I’ll have to politely decline. Best of luck with website, and book!
