WP doesn’t connect with WordPress servers

  • I’m thinking this is a URL /network issue

    I have a copy of WordPress installed on my local machine and when I go to the “Plugins” > “Add New” page and try the “View Details” the connection times out. Is there something special I need to know about WordPress’s connection or access to the outside world?

    Usually, this is due to an old or misconfigured SSL library on your computer. What are you using for your local hosting?

    Please install the health check plugin and report back its findings regarding SSL and connections to the WordPress servers: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

    I’m running a windows 7 machine with Apache 24 and PHP 5.5.36

    I’ve run into something like this before and I seem to recall it was due to a missing or inactive module.

    I’ll take a look at your plugin and let you know.
