• I have my own dedicated server that I’m running a couple small vBulletin sites on. Soon as I spend any time working in WP (new site) it starts to drag the server down to the point where it’s almost unusable. I’m just setting up some new pages, saving suff, etc. Once I’m out of WP for a while the server starts to come back.

    Any thoughts?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

The install is fresh so I don’t have any plugins installed. I went back to the stock theme but it’s about the same. The drag down seems to rear it’s ugly head when I’m doing a lot of administration, setting up pages, saving often, etc. Seems the longer I work on it the slower it gets.
