WP eCommerce – Downloadables not moving from temp ulpoad folder

Running an online book store with MP3s, PDFs, Mobi and ePub. files.
Setting up new products: When I use the products Downloads tab to upload the content fro the product, the files don’t appear correctly. They get listed with error messages.
When I FTP in I can see the files are in a folder called upload. If I manually drag them across to the uploads/wpsc/downloadables it all works fine.
What has gone wrong?
