WP editor's buttons not responding

  • Whilst editing a post, bits of the tinymce editor are not responding, specifically, when I highlight text in order to add a link, when I click on the menu’s link it doesn’t respond. Instead, the remove link option gave me the window to add the url.

    Quitting my browser got it working again but after a while the same thing happened, and now I notice that the Bold link is also dead.

    BTW, I’ve not added any new plugins or changed the configuration in any way.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    You gotta be kidding! Do know how long it takes to do all this?

    Yes – about 20 minutes tops.
