We have the WP Email Capture plugin installed in our website rethinkre.org. When you try to sign up at the front end, an error page appears with the text below. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a way of solving it? The plugin is up to date.

    Hi There,

Odd. Has this been happening recently or all the time? Have you managed to have the plugin working?

The warnings I think are generally due to being unable to connect to the database on submission. Have you spoken to the host see if there’s an issue? The mysql_real_escape_string() is an old function in PHP.

As an aside, by looking at it you appear to be on the premium version of WP Email Capture. Are you sure you’re on the latest version of that? You need both the latest version of free & premium version for it to work.

    Hi Rhys,

Thank you very much for your response. I’m not sure how long the plugin hasn’t been working for but it was working fine for at least a couple of years. It was only when I tested it this week by trying to subscribe through the front-end of the website that I realised there was a problem.

I did contact the host and he said there wasn’t a problem with the server, that the problem appeared to be with the plugin.

I checked the plugins again and noticed that the free version (v 3.2) wasn’t activated, but the premium version (v 2.7.2) was. I tried to activate the free version thinking that that might be where the problem lies, and it came up with this message:

“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wp_email_capture_plugins_loaded() (previously declared in /nfs/c03/h05/mnt/49041/domains/rethinkre.org/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-email-capture1/wp-email-capture.php:25) in /nfs/c03/h05/mnt/49041/domains/rethinkre.org/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-email-capture/wp-email-capture.php on line 68”

Does this shed any further light on the problem? Should I go back to the host again and ask him to double-check that the problem doesn’t lie at his end?

    Many thanks!

    Hi Naomi,

I suspect that the problem could be the premium version. It is quite an old version. The current version is 3.2.1 and I went through a complete redesign from v2.7.2 to v3.

v2.7.2 is the last one that is standalone, and is not supported anymore. Could you check with your client to see if they have an active licence for the premium version?

Happy to jump into email to discuss this further if need be – https://www.wpemailcapture.com/contact/ – cheers!
