    Hello,

    I’m getting this error since version 4 when saving settings.
    Everything seems to work fine though:

    WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SHOW_TABLES' at line 1 for query SHOW_TABLES made by do_action('toplevel_page_itsec'), call_user_func_array, ITSEC_Admin_Page_Loader->show_page, do_action('itsec-page-show'), call_user_func_array, ITSEC_Settings_Page->handle_page_load, ITSEC_Settings_Page->show_settings_page, ITSEC_Settings_Page->get_module_settings, ITSEC_Module_Settings_Page->render, ITSEC_Backup_Settings_Page->render_settings, ITSEC_Backup_Settings_Page->get_excludable_tables

    sorry but I don’t well understand the purpose of your reply.

    – I read the forum welcome but didn’t find anything relevant
    – I searched the forum but didn’t find anything relevant
    – everything in my WP installation is up to date
    – the steps were noted in my initial message: “since version 5.4 when saving settings”
    – Apache on shared hosting is my server environment, but the error is related to SQL syntax here and this is clear in the error itself.

    @john

    I was hoping to get more detailed steps to reproduce your issue.

    “since version 5.4 when saving settings” does not qualify as exact steps to reproduce the issue. To me it looks more like the last step before the error occurs … ??

    There may be a miscommunication here … we all need to get used to the new UI.

    Does the error occur when clicking on any Save Settings button or does the error only occur when clicking on the Database Backups Save Settings button ?

    I really can’t provide any more information as I don’t have any…

    At the site I get this error, I’m running ALL latest versions, WP, plugins, themes.

    Since I updated to 5.4 and consequent versions, I get this error in my error.log whenever I save ANY of iSec settings. I just did again right now and got the same error.

    I found this error only at one site and didn’t see the same at other sites running iSec though.

    I don’t have any issues with the new UI and I didn’t change anything in settings since this new version 5.4

    As previously stated, the site works fine despite that. I only wanted to bring this to your attention.

    PS: please note that this error is logged under /wp-admin/ error.log
    and I found a second site that gets the same error, at a different hosting account (but same company).

    Do not plug-in settings are saved. The settings are saved, but after a certain time ~ 1-2 minutes, any changes made are reset to the original. Also not working Disable button. All errors appeared after updating the plugin to the new version.

    iThemes Security 5.4.4

    @john

    People often have more information than they think.

    For instance, we now know it seems to be an isolated issue on 1 site.

    We now know the error occurs when clicking on ANY Save Settings button.

    Also we learned that you seem to be getting the error added to the error.log. Does that mean that there is no error displayed on screen ?

    We also know you didn’t change anything in the settings since this new version 5.4 (Though clicking on a Save Settings button implies saving something that got changed …).

    So that’s pretty usefull information.

    Edit: Oops, I missed your last post. So bear with me.

    dwinden

    Every 3 minutes backed up, I can not disable or change this option. The settings are not saved.

    @dwinden

    OK, let’s summarize:

    – the same error shows up in /wp-admin/ error.log of 2 sites so far (I checked about 5-6 in total so far)
    – the error doesn’t display on screen
    – the error is generated when saving any iSec settings (didn’t try all of them, but at least 2 of them: Global Settings & Banned users)
    – I saved settings at first hand when adding IPs to banned users, but now, when I checked at both sites for testing to see whether the same error appears I didn’t change or edit anything, just saved settings.

    @zcambler

    As per the Forum Welcome please open a new topic for your issue.

    @john

    Thank you for that summary.

    I’ve got good news and bad news.
    Let’s start with the good news. I was able to reproduce the error. Yihaa!

    The bad news is I’ve run out of time. I have some other activities on the agenda.
    So will have a closer look at this later on. Probably this evening.

    Great, thanks for this!

    The good news are really good but the bad one is really not important as far as I’m concerned: both sites that get this error run very well despite this and have absolutely no need for urgent intervention.

    Good luck then!

    @dwindon Thanks for trying to help on this one. The truth is, I saw this thread last night (about 6 hours ago), and actually worked up a fix for it, but ended up going off to bed before replying here. The original post did in fact include enough information. We’ll put it through our QA testing, but it should be included in the next bugfix release.

    @aaron D. Campbell

    Your plugin is not working, you had to test the update before giving access. You caused a lot of inconvenience to users. It is necessary in the future to give up your plug-in favor of the other.
