WP Fastest Cache bot warning – Bot Management within Plugin
-
Hi,
This looks like a handy plugin.
I notice in the general information that there is the following statement.Note: If you use the plugin WPFastestCache, looks like they use a bot named “test”.
In this case, you need deactivate this bot in our table. (Dashboard => Stop Bad Bots => Bad Bots Table)This is made on the plugin site, but I am not sure if it is made apparent within the plugin (so the user does not need to forever remember this fact).
Within the plugin ;
a) Is there a highlight beside this bot?
b) Is there a warning message during installation?
c) Is there a warning message during the first activation, and/or every time activated?
d) Is there a method to automatically detect the presence of WP Fastest Cache plugin, and recommend the bot setting be changed?I will install it after I know if any one of the above is the situation.
I will not install it, if none of the above is the situation.
If any of the above is not the situation, then please consider the above as suggestions for plugin development, as are the rest of the following suggestions.Also Yoast SEO plugin may cause bots from Yandex.
So a similar bunch of precautions as above would be handy.There may be other plugins that have similar considerations.
It might be handy to have a generic warning similar to “If you have any SEO plugins, or cache plugins, or plugins that measure website performance from an external website, then you may need to look at those plugins and settings to make sure if they use bots, and then be sure to allow those bots in the bot list”.It would be handy to include in the plugin a swift and convenient way for a user to feedback to the plugin site (database) of settings that they need to alter, and for what reason, such as the above consideration.
That way, the plugin team will effortlessly learn of the issues, and can automate the collection of data, and automate the building of the warning system, and list of plugins that need to be auto-detected and adjusted for.Having a “Re-scan for plugins” feature would allow the plugin to learn of recently added plugins and check if they are on the list of plugins that need to be adjusted for, or if they are they “type of plugin” that may need adjusting for.
These would all improve the speed with which the plugin can be used reliably without interference with other plugins on the site, and cut down the duplication of individual users research on why certain plugins have begun to fail – coincidentally after installing this plugin, which is not a good look.
Thank you
