WP for Dummies

I just downloaded Events Manager. I did take care in choosing which plugin I wanted to use. I need a click by click instruction on how to display the calendar to my page. I must be missing something really simple but I just can’t figure it out. I tried entering a couple of events as a test, I tried adding a widget to a block “header” but it said there were no events so it didn’t display. I added a different widget and added it to a footer and nothing displayed.
