• I am using the default WordPress Gallery, creating galleries on several pages.

Galleries look fine in thumbnail version – when I click on them to view as slides, I can scroll past the images I had included in the gallery, and carry on to viewing other images in the Media Library.

What is causing the gallery to extend beyond the selected images?

I have tried re-creating the galleries, checking image id’s in the gallery shortcode (which are correct), and cannot solve the issue.

I’m using a child of 2013. I’d like to avoid using a gallery plugin if possible.

    Thanks!

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I can replicate the problem in default WP 2014 theme with all plugins disabled, save for Black Studio Tiny MCE Widget – if I disable this plugin, much of my content is not visible.

    Thanks again!

Update – managed to deactivate Black Studio Tiny MCE Widget – and still the gallery extends beyond the images originally selected for inclusion.

All plugins deactivated. Tried default WP Theme 2014. Am using WP version 3.7.1

    Can we see the site?

Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks again for getting back to me. Have just upgraded to WP 3.8.

    Page url with gallery:
    https://www.jeremiahkrage.co.uk/site/thyme-travel/

If you click on ‘Previous’ 2-3 times, you’ll find images not in the thumbnail gallery.

If you look at the site now, I’ve reinstated 2013 theme and all plugins.

Sorry? What “Previous” link? I can’t see one on that page.

When you click on the first thumbnail, in order to view the image in a larger size, you have a basic carousel – able to click on ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ images to navigate.

Click on the ‘Previous’ option a couple of times and you’ll find yourself looking at images in the Media Library, but not in the original gallery of thumbnails.

Can I suggest you take the content of that page OUT of the Text widget and actually place it in the content area of the relevant Post or Page?

    Hi Esmi,

I’ve tried creating a new gallery outside of the text widget. Same result.

    You can see it here:
    https://www.jeremiahkrage.co.uk/site/thyme-travel/

Also created another page, with the same gallery, without the Pagebuilder plugin. Result is the same:

I’ve just deactivated all plugins and activated default Twenty Fourteen theme. Same result. You can try both of the above links again if you want to see it yourself.

I’ve returned the site to Twenty Thirteen child theme and re-activated all plugins.

Solved: Requires editing the shortcode for each gallery to replace ‘ids’ with ‘includes’.

    Found the solution here:

Actually, not quite. The above solution appears to work if there is only one gallery on a page.

Anyone know how to fix this if there are two galleries on a page?

    (@el-sapo)

Still having difficulty solving this issue.

I’ve tried the solution recommended here:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/two-galleries-in-one-post
(creating two diff. galleries on seperate pages and linking to them)

    and this solution:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/multiple-galleries-1
(using gallery exclude/include to split content)

Either way, when viewing there are two galleries on a page, and one is viewed as a carousel (after clicking on any image in the gallery to view full size), it is possible to view images in both galleries.
