WP Host…shared or managed WP host

Hello – I am new to WP and struggling really just to get off the ground. I am working with a small trade association with little to nothing to invest so I am working on a shoestring budget.

I realize that my question does not make complete sense because with most of the Managed WP Hosts, you really are sharing a server. But in my mind, it comes down to do the typical differences (SSD v. HHD and “anything goes” v. WP-only) really make a difference in performance? Is the difference in performance going to make a noticeable difference with a site that probably only see 100-500 visits a month?

So, I guess I am stuck on the possible performance differences, and, tthe idea of being able to create additional/unlimited websites typical with the less expensive “shared” hosting…Any thoughts?
