WP Import alternative

Hi there,
I’ve been looking through the forums for awhile and can’t see any up-to-date info on a good replacement for WP Import which doesn’t work in the latest version of WordPress. I need to import some dummy data (posts, pages, categories, etc) from an xml file. I tried WP All Import but it doesn’t seem to discriminate between separate data types. It says essentially “Import all as pages?”.

What’s the best way to import dummy data now that WP Import is not working? Thanks very much for your time. My project has stalled until I can figure this out.
