WP inserting code into hyperlinks, causing link failure

In my code I am writing:

You also can order it directly from Amazon.

However, when I update my page, WP is inserting my site domain before the hyperlink:

https://globalsense.com/https://www.amazon.com/GLOBAL-SENSE-spiritual-handbook-ourselves/dp/0972890580/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325278560

or even stranger:

https://globalsense.com/2011/global-sense-now-published/https://www.amazon.com/GLOBAL-SENSE-spiritual-handbook-ourselves/dp/0972890580/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325278560

I have cleared my cache and checked this in several browsers. The error occurs on all browsers. Also, I upgraded to the latest WP 3.3.1, and the error continued.

How do I stop WP from treating an external link like an internal link?
