    Hi everyone

As you might have guessed i’m completely new to wordpress. I have recently purchased my first domain

    https://www.insi9ht.com.sg

I installed wordpress and have been able to start the building process. However every time i try to view my site I just get an under construction page.

Not sure of the next step. any help would be great ??

  • Yes there would be a index.html in your root folder try going inside cpanel and within file manager to remove that file or using ftp access to delete or rename index.html

    Donot rename index.php file

    Site should show up.

FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the index.html file in the domain’s root folder.

index.html file in your root folder needs to be removed, otherwise all requests to your domain with be directed to it and it has the “under construction” text on it.

I found the index.html file in my sample folder, within the root folder. I deleted this, and it’s still showing ‘this is site is under construction’ Help!

    Hi,

I resolved this by deleting the home.html file too.

Hi I see you fixed that! But just in case other people read this: Sometimes, when you just bought the hosting account, it takes up to 48 hours before the registrar internationally sets your site to “live” so it shows up once the Name Server is activated..

Hi! I deleted the index file and it’s been over 48 hours. My site still says under construction and I don’t know what to do about it. Also, I’m not very good with computer terms or techy things, so if you could maybe dumb down the steps or help me that would be amazing!

I see your site now, so my DNS is updated. Yours may not be updated yet but at least you know it’s coming. ??

Hi again. To clarify for all: When you register a domain name, the registrar sets the DNS address to their server. If you buy HOSTING account with your registrar, then it automatically works there.. BUT if you buy a Hosting Package somewhere else with another HOST, you need to go back to your registrar account and manually insert the new DNS addresses.
You’ll find them in your Hosting account settings , look for DNS Nameservers, then check there what it should be, but you have to then copy these into the registrar account settings where you bought the domain name, under Domain Management>> Nameservers.
After that, it can take up to 48 hours to show your site, but sometimes it’s very fast.. so if it did not work you need to double check the settings.

I have the same problem. I don’t have index.html in my root folder, only index.php I have bought hosting and domain registration with same provider, in one go, and have used the “cheat” WordPress set-up (Softaculous).

Based on the above, I’m reasoning that I can expect it to go out of the “Construction” phase after 48 hours – right?

or was that only when hosting and registrar wasn’t the same provider?

Hi, you don’t need an index.html – this is all php. Your wait is because you have to wait at least 24 – 72 hours before the DNS host server numbers set in.. you can also check that they are set up correctly. Go to your webHOST login and see that the site points to “home directory” . Wait another 24 hours maybe and if its not there contact the host.
