WP installs successfuly however attempting to access media results in 403 error

  • Fresh install of WP 4.3_en_GB on Ubuntu 14.0 with MySQL.

    Everything looks fine except from the Admin console when I click to view “Media” (upload.php) the server generates a 403 error.

    I can upload media just can’t view it.

    I have checked wp-content and upload directory permissions and they all look fine (700).

    mod-rewrite is OFF.

    Any ideas very welcome.

    Try contacting your host, tell them your error and also ask for some webserver logs to see why you get that 403 on larger files.

    I have this exact same problem and haven’t found a solution yet, if anyone has any suggestions, please help
