WP locking up: can’t save work, getting logged out, photo won’t go away

    Yesterday I had a slew of problems when building a new page for my website. I’m running 4.6.1 with the latest version of the Enfold theme. I’m listing all the problems in the post because they all happened at the same time.

    CAN’T SAVE WORK
    Started building the page in Draft. Made a lot of changes and went to “save draft.” Button was opaque and wouldn’t click. Nothing had auto-saved. I had to revert to my most recent revision, and therefore lost all my work.

    GETTING LOGGED OUT
    Published the page and finished building the page within Published status. Kept getting a pop-up saying I’d timed out of my session. I logged out and logged in again. Kept getting the pop-up.

    PHOTO WON’T GO AWAY
    I permanently deleted a photo file and loaded a new file with the same title. The old photo showed up. I deleted the file and loaded a new file with the same title. The old photo showed up both in the back end and on the published page. I finally got rid of the old photo by deleting the entire section on the page in which it had been posted.

    During all these processes I frequently cleared my browser’s cache and logged out and relogged into WordPress.

    Has anyone else had WP lock up when building and revising a page? I was working very rapidly and making a lot of changes. Is it possible WordPress couldn’t cope with the speed and the amount of work?

    Have you tried disabling all of your plugins to ensure a confliction isn’t taking place?

    Also, try activating the default TwentySixteen theme to ensure there isn’t an issue with your theme. As you’re using a commercial product, we’re unable to offer much help as we’re not supplied commercial themes to test with, if deactivating the theme remedies the issue then you can try asking for assistance from where you purchased the theme from.

    You could also try enabling debug mode by adding this code to your wp-config file:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
