• Hi folks, I’ve tried looking through old tickets, and have tried a few “solutions” as suggested, but no luck ??

I’m trying to log in to my admin section, and I’m getting this:
    https://domain.com/folder/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fdomain.com%2Ffolder%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

And it’s telling me the page can’t be found.

I assumed it was the Better WP Security plugin that I installed yesterday, so I (based on old forum topics)
    1) renamed plugin folder to “disable” all active plugins and when that didn’t work, 2) removed the list of active plugins from the DB.

Still no luck! Starting to freak out a bit, if I can’t get in, I’m up the proverbial creek!

Can anybody give me any other fixes?

    Thanks!
    Cindy

OK, so I’ve spent pretty much all day hunting for an answer, and managed to find another old thread that suggested renaming .htaccess and OMG it worked. I’m in.

Not 100% sure what the htaccess file does though? I’m more a front-end HTML/CSS nerd than a server-y PHP guru, so if someone can let me know if I need a htaccess file, or what it does, or anything, that’d be great!

This fixed it for me too. I was lucky I found this post.

    Glad to have helped, MTPrower!

I deleted all the junk in my .htaccess file (I’d installed a security plugin, and it added all this extra code) and reinstated a “fresh” WP copy of the file… and deleted that plugin.
