wp-login redirects to 404 page

I’m using WP maintenance mode plugin as well.
Entering wp-login or wp-login.php redirects to 404 page (any theme).
How can I redirect wp-login to root or “This has been disabled” error page to avoid revealing the website via a 404 page?thank you
