I have a problem with sending emails, likely since I have updated WordPress to version 5.2. The WP Mail SMTP was working OK until few days ago, that is before the last WP update.
When trying to send a test email, I saw the following message on the test page:
The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

I didn’t get any email, so I don’t know what instructions this message is referring to. Does anyone have the same problem or an idea what is going on here?

After deactivating WP Mail SMTP, WP sends email without any problem.

This has been resolved. My SMTP settings were deleted.

Hi webbymaja — Thanks for letting us know this is working for you now! Definitely seems odd that your SMTP settings would be deleted, but I’m glad this is now all up and running.

Can you please let me know, how resolve this issue. I am also facing this isssue in many site.

    Hi @maheshpanalink,

Can you please let us know your issue with more details? What version of the plugin you’re currently on? If you’re getting the error ‘The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’ after the update, please turn on WP_DEBUG and share the error logs you’re receiving. In case it helps, here’s a tutorial for setting up WordPress error logs.

    Thanks!

    Hi Sanjeev,

I am using WP MAIL SMTP (Version 1.6.0) and my wordpress version is 5.2.2. I am getting below problem:

    ===========================
Could not connect to the SMTP host.

This means your web server was unable to connect to smtp.office365.com.

Typically this error is returned for one of the following reasons:

-SMTP settings are incorrect (wrong port, security setting, incorrect host).
-Your web server is blocking the connection.
-Your SMTP host is rejecting the connection.
    Recommended next steps:

Triple check your SMTP settings including host address, email, and password, port, and security.
Contact your web hosting provider and ask them to verify your server can connect to smtp.office365.com on port 587 using tls encryption. Additionally, ask them if a firewall or security policy may be preventing the connection – many shared hosts block certain ports.
Note: this is the most common cause of this issue.
Contact your SMTP host to confirm you are using the correct username and password.
Verify with your SMTP host that your account has permissions to send emails using outside connections.
