WP media library upload.thumbnail problems

Out of the blue my WP media library decided that it doesn’t like getting attention and now refuses to create thumbnails of freshly uploaded images.

Yesterday it was running fine and I posted a tiny blog with a featured image. And today same idea, blog post, add featured image, but that image was a no show. The pic uploaded fine, but didn’t generate a thumbnail.

I can see the pic in “edit media” but once again, no thumbnail. Played around with different images uploading and deleting them. Turning plugins off and on again to no avail. Tried “add from server”, “browser uploader” and the “multi-file uploader”. no succes whatsoever.

I can use images that I’ve uploaded previously but no new ones. Im not afraid to play around with stuff, but has been a lot of years since I last dove into the actual bits and bytes behind a website so Im at a loss.
