• Hi,

I am running a WP 3.4 multisite/network installation and all works like a charm (approx. 40 sites). I recently (already on earlier WP versions) noticed that WP is not initialized correctly when viewing the main site or using the main site’s wp-admin.

The issue is visible in several areas:
    – language setting is not honored on the front end
    – in wp-admin some plugins have a fatal error when parsing the output of the get_role call

To me this points in the direction that somehow WP is not initialized properly or completely.

Any help is appreciated. I have “fixed” the plugins by checking if get_role returns a proper object, but that is ofcourse not the solution.

    I’ve never seen those errors.

Language settings aren’t for the front end, though. I mean, they are, but only if the plugins and themes are too. Other wise I’m pretty sure they default to english.

    Which plugins?

Well, the plugins are ok, as they work fine on all the subsites and are all displayed in dutch language as they should. It seems an object is not set during initialization.
I will see if I can make a copy of the VPS on which the install is running and try to disable all plugins. Plugins with issues is the WP-Polls plugin for example

We’d need the specific error here.
