I just installed the Piwik beta 2.14 and had to deactivate WP-Piwik due to an incompatibility. I placed the tracking code by hand, and everything is working fine again.

At that occasion I noticed (better: I had the impression) that the WordPress admin interface is considerably snappier without WP-Piwik active (all pages, not only the dashboard and WP-Piwik!). It’s clear that WP-Piwik doesn’t run without consuming resources, but is it possible that the difference is really so noticeable? Or is it my pure imagination?

    This depends on your configuration.

Are you using the toolbar graph and the http connection? This will cause a http request to Piwik each time the toolbar is shown. To improve the speed, you can disable the toolbar graph or switch to the PHP API (just possible if Piwik and WordPress are running at the same machine).

Thanks for the info. I was indeed using the toolgraph bar (with the PHP API though).
